As you can see from my previous post about the 5 mics., I have not heard the album so I can not make an opinion on whether this is a worthy 5 Mics like Illmatic or a 'WTF' rating like Lil Kim. But I am definately going to check it out. I am a Bun B fan and I know Uncle S will be celebrating this one.

1st 5 mics in 5 years

If you don't know what the coveted 5 mics are then you aint hip-hop. Thats fact. 


If your album got the 5 mics you become legend. The rarity of the 5 mics were reserved for classics such as Illmatic, Life After Death, The Blueprint. So rare infact you can count the amount on your fingers and toes, thats not counting the time The source decided to go back in time and award a bunch of classics with 5 mics to rectify their mistakes. 


As time moved on The Source lost its respect and tried to reclaim its position in Hip-hop but not quite able to get back on top. 


It seems now in order for The Source to gain new subscribers they would like to remind hip-hop heads of the 5 mics of awarding an album with 5 mics. The first album to be awarded 5 mics in 5 years. This certainly caught my attention and I thought I should put in my 2 cents as a hip-hop fan.


Below is a list showing my opinions and reasons why the nominees should and should not win.

Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot
Why It Will Win: The closest to a outkast album we got in a long time and a good album with the classic outkast style that every loves. This is my favourite album of the year so far the only thing that is missing is ...
Why It Wont Win: Andre 300 isn't on it


Drake - Thank Me Later
Why It Will Win: Rookie of the year. Some Lyrical Skill, an Emcee praised by the likes of Eminem, Jay Z, Kweli. The Source may think to get more subscribers to keep up with the trend of what is happening right now and Drake seems to be it. 
Why It Wont Win:  Dude sings too much and lets be honest. Thank Me Later is no Illmatic debut.


Eminem - Recovery
Why It Will Win: Lyrical genius and The Source owe him from the Benzino saga (Look it up if you don't know). I do like this album, especially the first 2 Joint. 
Why It Wont Win: This is hard to say really... because Pink is on the album? This is not my favourite album in the list although lyrically eminem is great this is too commercial for my liking. 


Rick Ross - Teflon Don:
Why It Will Win: Officer Ricky is in fashion at the moment and has the backing of Diddy (probably paying the Source for him to win)
Why It Wont Win: The Album Sucks.


Fat Joe - The Darkside Vol 1
Why It Will Win: The Album has some bangers and is far superior then Joes last album. Joey CRACK has solidified himself in the game as a legend.
Why It Wont Win: Just not 5 mic worthy


The Roots - How I Got Over
Why It Will Win: Publicity stunt by the source to get Questloves twitter followers to buy source magazines if he wins if they win. The album itself is pretty good too
Why It Wont Win: 4 - 4.5 Mics


Bun B - Trill O.G
Why It Will Win: I haven't had a chance to hear this album so I cant comment
Why It Wont Win: Because I have'nt heard it.

More Music, More Shows, More FM

Wats up everyone,

I know its been a while since I updated this spot but there is a valid reason.

I got married a little while back and been on honey moon living the baller life for a short ammount of time and enjoying it while I can. I even got me a iced out marc ecko watch (probably fake) coz I felt so baller/shot-caller. Telling room service what, when and how. VIP sections in shows and so on... but alas, that time is over and ow I am back to balling on a budget and have bills to pay. My phone bill is 2 months behind and my internets bill is just scraping by, and power bill... well the lights are barely on.

I got my priorities straight tho. The internets must be paid before anything else, I need to be on the internets to contact the VMT/VIPER SQUAD/Ta'Veren bretheren and even if i run out of power, I got a laptop and a cellphone with battery to keep in touch via twitter, facebook myspace and bebo (Scratch myspace and bebo). That being said the bills are on their way to getting paid and along with the bills the music is due to be made.

Slip of the tongue has a gang of work he wants to lay with tonnes of features all to be set for his "The Trouble with Vin" ep (more likely to be an LP), VIPER SQUAD mixtape is ready to be mixed - I just need to get off my lazy ass and master the vocals and send to the DJ. My solo "Life is short and so is this album" is 90% finished, I am just waiting on one more beat for one more track and will be all completed for your listening pleasure. And VMT is all a part of it. I am getting hit up to hurry up and do the music video from our money man. Which should definately be in the works depending on the myself and the group.

In the mean time, here a couple of shows up and coming if you wanna hang out have a sip and nod heads with us. We will be in hamilton shortly and up in auckland for the first day of NZ music month. Check the above pics for details.

I think it's about time someone gave time to honoring those involved with what we are striving to achieve, it is the Christmas season after all.

What you are about to experience is a charater refference of each member of the Venomous Mic Technicians. The my aim is to give insight into what is otherwise a discrete organisation, as it is the supporters who deserve such a service.... they are, after all, the reason we do what we do.

LewzTheryn:

Also known as Eon, I Like Knivez, Uncle Joog Joog and Thug Jesus.

To describe Lewz accurately would be to use the human anatomy as a metaphore, namely the heart. The heart ensures the human body is distributed with the correct elements in order to function.... this is and always has been LewzTheryn's role. His style of rhyme is incomparable and it is impeccable. As the founding father of Venomous Mic Technicians he has managed to lead when needed and follow when expected. With a stable name in the H-Town Hip Hop scene Lewz has managed hold his posistion accordingly.


The Krippled Kemist:

Also known as The Handsome Monkey King, The Sexiest Man in New Zealand Hip Hop and Ace Mc Cloud last of the Centurians.

With a wise word and a maniacle mindset, the Kemist has managed to become the brain child of a considerable amount of material VMT has released. Alot of the earlier workings were the products of rants and raves the Kemist come up with during a drinking session. He has become the adhesive that keeps the team together in times of hard goings and maintains a massive respect by his peers. Having the Kemist's ability to deal with a situation thoroughly in mind, the Kemist would play the part of the brain of the human body. The kemist's rhymes style is explosive and not for the faint hearted in other words if he didn't have your attention before you heard him.... you soon will.

S.J:

Also known as S, Uncle S, S.J Montana, Montana, Koro and Roro.

S has supported the VMT franchise for a number of years and has been the greatest pusher of material to date. Taking time out of a ultimately busy schedule to help set up a facility which is now known as "The Kitchen", S has managed to solidify his place in the VMT camp. Though S is not an Emcee by any means he is no less the VMT 'go to guy'. Using once again the human anatomy metaphore S would would be the spinal colomn, holding the structure up right and stern..... chuuch!

Slip of the tongue:

Also known as Thuggy Bear, Mr. Good Kat, Vin Dog and The Magnificent Ruffian.

Serving as a direct plug-in to the streets Slip of the tongue brings the hood element to the table. Slip of the tongue's aim is to keep them ghetto ears listening and he does this to the best of his ability. He utelizes an array of punchlines as his arsenal of lyricizm and has perfected his recognisable formular. Seen as the knucklehead of the team, Slip of the tongue would be considered the balls part of the human anatomy metaphore.
